The cost of counselling
GCS is a registered charity and a non-profit making organisation;
we receive no financial support from Government or NHS Trusts.
We aim to provide our service to those in need irrespective
of income. Each person who comes to GCS for counselling is expected
to contribute towards the cost of the service according to their
ability to pay.
The cost of the initial assessment session is £42.
It costs GCS £37 to provide each ongoing counselling session
and clients are asked to pay what they can reasonably afford.
Fees are negotiable and concessions can be negotiated for those
on low income or benefit. The fee for regular counselling sessions
is discussed and agreed with the counsellor at the first session.
No one is excluded because they cannot afford the full cost
of counselling.
Making an appointment
GCS operates an appointments only system and appointments
are made by telephoning GCS.
Calls are answered between 9am and 4pm. At other times messages
can be left on an answer-phone and will be dealt with as soon
as possible. Alternatively you can e-mail your details including
your telephone number and we will contact you as soon as possible.
The initial session
The initial meeting provides the opportunity to talk about
the problems and reason for coming for counselling.
The session lasts 50 minutes. If there is mutual agreement
between GCS and the client to proceed with counselling this
will be processed and a counsellor will make contact as soon
as possible.
Waiting times
Our services are in regular demand and, at times, the pressure
on our resources may result in a waiting list for both initial
and subsequent counselling sessions. Waiting times do vary
and we make every effort to accommodate those seeking counselling
as quickly as possible.
